Herz an Herz, Hand in Hand wird die Welt zum Märchenland.
Esra Rotthoff’s photo "Fence Kissing" and a quote from the operetta "Polnische Hochzeit" share a sense of longing for peace and togetherness that surpasses all boundaries – a utopian fantasy? Operetta as a theatre genre has always defied adversity in its stories, promoted laughter in times of crisis, danced on volcanos while dreaming of a rosier future. Especially the works of persecuted Jewish composers and authors, such as those writing "Polnische Hochzeit", remind us not to repeat the failings of the past and – maybe – let utopias come true.
